After the previous season’s small yields, perfect flowering in the spring of 2024 meant potentially above average yields for the 2025 vintage. However, we always reduce our cropping levels to maximise flavours and concentration. Coupled with good summer weather this astute crop reduction meant the grapes for this Rose ripened perfectly and free of any disease pressure.
This Rose is predominantly estate grown Pinot Noir, which was designated specifically for this wine. The remainder of the blend is a small portion of Pinot Gris and Gruner Veltliner. The grapes were all picked together in the cool of the evening on 25 March 2025, maintaining freshness and resulting in exceptional quality. They were given a brief cold soak maceration to extract colour from the skins and then co-fermented to give us this elegant, well integrated wine. The inclusion of the two aromatic white grapes co-fermented with the Pinot Noir lifts the wine, giving a unique vibrancy and spicyness. It was bottled on 27 August 2025.
It is warm salmon pink in colour with classical strawberries and cream nose, delicate red rose florals, cherries, grapefruit, melon and a subtle spicy hint. On the palate it is clean, crisp and refreshing with traces of cherries, strawberries, grapefruit, white nectarine, pomegranite, water-melon and spices. It is medium bodied, elegant and refined, with crisp acidity, great balance and soft tannins. The long, dry, lingering, spicy finish is particularly appealing. Because it is predominantly Pinot Noir, it should age gracefully for several years.

It's delightfully fragrant on the nose, with aromas of watermelon, crisp apple, and nectarine, leading to a finely expressed palate that's pristine and lingering. Beautifully framed by juicy acidity, making it charming and immediately appealing. At its best: now to 2028. 93/100 *****

Ready for this summer, the 2025 vintage (****) was made predominantly from Pinot Noir, estate-grown in the Wairau Valley. Pale pink, it is medium to full-bodied, with very good depth of peach, strawberry and watermelon flavours, fresh, delicate and vibrant, and a basically dry finish. ****

Quite aromatic, rose petal, fruit pastille, musk, all dusted with icing sugar. Stonefruits lead the palate, strawberry, a seasoning of cracked pepper, it manages to have richness without heaviness. Really nicely balanced, great length and just quietly moreish. The stone fruit notes grow with air, you could readily have other glass of this.
